A Different Breed of Airline Food (Peter, Thursday)

Naturally, airline food comes with mixed expectations, but our international flights on the way to Bankbook were a culinary adventure in their own right. We flew via EVA Airlines, a Chinese carrier. To cater to their mixed clientele of western and Asian customers, they provide either a western or asian entree of your choice. The side dishes remain the same either way which created a rather odd mix. Overall the food was good and above typical expectations for airline cuisine, despite a couple hiccups.

The presentation was truly delightful. Meals came on green and white plastic trays lined with a patterned place may. Each component was delivered in and individual green and white dish. The colors were vibrant and the food looked far better than I ever would have guessed.

Braised pork belly and pig stomach & rice with steamed cabbage and vegetables, side salad with ranch, fresh fruit, dinner roll, and chocolate chip cookies.

Braised chicken thigh with rice and bitter greens, daikon salad with smoked turkey, fresh fruit, and dinner roll.
