Peter-Lunch at Chatuchak Market

Chatuchak Weekend market is a popular destination for westerners, ex-pats, and Thais alike. With over 8000 vendors, you can find just about anything you could imagine at a good price. Fortunately, this includes lunch. A large centrally located food court area features a variety of fare ranging from fruits and traditional Thai items to pastries and even doner kebab. Cupcakes (pictured below) were a surprise to me. They were beautifully decorated and available in a variety of flavors

I a traditional Thai route and chose sum tom (green papaya salad), marinated fried chicken, and fried spring rolls. The sum tom was truly fantastic; crunchy, bright, hot and loaded with dried shrimp and peanuts (the best I've had). The chicken was very tasty as well. It was a good lunch, a great value, and a welcomed break from the frenzied shopping.
