The Paragon Food Court, "Oh my God"
Next it was finally time to eat. We were told that we were going to eat at the Paragon Food Court. So we all loaded the bus and began a journey. It seemed as if we were on the bus for days and I am sure it was mere minutes or at least an hour. As we drove down the street I saw beautiful monuments of Buddha everywhere and different shops ranging from textiles, alteration/tailor, beauty shops, gift shops, antique shops, just everything that could be sold we saw. As we got closer to the Siam Paragon Mall it was as if the neighborhood became an introduction for this grand mall of which there would be no comparison. The shops increased in number and the quality increased as well. Almost as if they were in competition of the real event or location. At any moment anyone of us could have jumped off the bus and just ran into a shop and did some power shopping and slowly walked down the street to where the buses new location was. In other words the bus was not moving and traffic was moving even slower than the bus. LOL We finally got to the entrance of the Siam Paragon Mall. It was impressive with its tall story of glass in the front entrance. We started walking up to the entrance and immediately you see all of these high brand name stores. Folks we are not in Kansas small shops anymore. However, the reason we were there was so we could enjoy the fantastic food court. As we began to get closer to the food court’s evaluators you could smell everything, much like a doggie with his head out of the window of a car everything was literally what we smelled. A smorgasbord of fragrances. At the base of the elevator was an ocean of restaurants placed in small booths with closet sized kitchens. These venders represented vendors from very exclusive restaurants throughout the city. It was not like the food courts we may have been accustomed, No Taco Bells, No Pizza Huts, No McDonalds; sad to say there was a Burger King, what a letdown…..
We all proceeded to the exchange booth, this was a booth where there were several people awaiting to change your money into coupons, no matter how much money you exchanged you could get your money back if you refunded it all within the same day. Otherwise you were out of luck. Since I had worked the summer in Las Vegas craving Barbeque I went on a quest to find the pig I usta know. I wanted some spare ribs. I searched however I did not find. But, the pig was everywhere I finally decided to eat some pig knuckles with some of their great spicey chilies sauce lathered all about it.
The Master Chef “O” challenged each of us to go purchase something for the group which we wanted them to experience. I went to a place called the Toast Box and got a variety of different types of breads. (Garlic Bread, Chicken and Spinach & Cheese Bread-A meal in a pocket of bread, Milk Rolls, and a few other delectable treats. We all began eating these wonderful items of joy. Everyone purchased wonderful things and I imagined what it must look like to other in attendance viewing us literally passing and eating off of each other’s plates. It for me was a joy because we all love food and we enjoy the journey of food, and this trip was as if we were boldly going where no man had gone before. We had no limits to the extent we would go to experience the culture of food.
